My topic of choice is "Breastfeeding in Public"
Not sure if this too broad of a topic, however I feel I’ill enjoy exploring primary sources which appeal to the argument. I intend on finding these pieces of work possibly via:
-Web sites for new mothers/parenting.
-Advocacy sites pro breast feeding or against it
-Family parenting newsletters, magazines, pamphlets…
-Web forums and blogs for families, mothers, physicians...
-Hospital--> Waiting rooms, web pages, pediatrics physicians
-Google--> Breastfeeding
With many options I don’t think I will have a problem getting my hands on three primary sources. This topic appeals to me because I know there are many opinions out there for new mothers and it will be interesting to pick apart each claim whether it’s a publication from companies or physicians or graphic images. Also considering my major is child psychology and sociology I think this assignment will challenge me to look at my two concentrations in a different light (Families and society).

shawna,
ReplyDeleteim so glad that you decided to pick this for your topic! i sitll cant get that one picture in class out of my mind haha i hope you use it! also the next day in class when you were absent, jenna and i found a whole bunch of interting iformation about the perks of breastfeeding,especially for the mother which was weird. but yea this should be a really fun topic with lots of controversy! goodluck!
Shawna,
ReplyDeleteGreat topic. It's not broad, exactly, though as you start looking for primary sources it may become more and more focused. Maybe "breastfeeding laws in Dallas" or something. Or it could stay national. Either way, well done!
